Perfume Glossary: Amarige-Angel Innocent

Perfume Glossary
We’re continuing our look at some of our popular discount fragrances that we offer, with a description of the original names. Note: All names and copyrights are property of the original owner. However we encourage you to try our version. We bet you don’t notice a difference!

Amarige. Amarige is French for “Mariage,” and this perfume is aptly named. Think of the most beautiful flower you’ve ever smelled, and that is Amarige. It’s intense, but happy and breezy. It’s flowery notes are created of mimosa, neroli, tuberose, gardenia and acacia with a gourmand hint of black currant. There’s also a woody base of amber, musk and sandalwood that gives this perfume it’s warm feeling.

Amazing Grace. Amazing Grace by Philosophy is a citrusy blend of orange, grapefruit and bergamot. Sub notes include jasmine and rose. And at it’s base, Amazing Grace is musky. Reminiscent of Envy by Gucci, this is a great fragrance for warmer climates and seasons.

Amor Amor. Amor Amor by Cacharel was created by Laurent Bruyere in 2003. Bruyere left this world in 2008, at just 43 years old. It’s amazing to think of the work he did in his short life, the pinnacle, in our opinion is Amor Amor. Bruyere developed the scent with Dominique Ropion as an ode to young love. Amor Amor is floral, fruity with notes of nectar. The main notes are very citrusy (pink grapefruit, blood orange and mandarin), however you’ll love how well the citrus works with other vanilla notes.

Anais Anais. Anais Anais was the first perfume ever developed by Cacharel, in 1978. This white floral fragrance has stood the test of time and lasted almost four decades as one of the most popular fragrances for its fresh, ultra-feminine appeal. Think of Anais Anais as a romantic bouquet of flowers. It’s an intensive floral blend led by orange blossom and complimented perfectly by a blend of sweet rose, delicate white lily and jasmine.

Angel. Angel is a perfume by French designer Thierry Mugler. Sexy and glamorous, Angel is an Oriental vanilla fragrance, created by Mugler in 1992. It’s romantic while being uplifting, rather than subtle and sexy. Angle features sweet coconut and flowery jasmine opening that drifts into a heart of yummy honey before a spicy finish of patchouli and bergamot.

Angel Innocent. Angel Innocent is an updated version of Angel by Mugler. Introduced by Mugler in 1999, Angel Innocent is the perfect daytime spritz. While the original Angel is wonderful for date-night, Angel Innocent is the perfect perfume for the modern working woman. Angel Innocent features an intriguing mix of honey and fresh almonds combined with exotic fruits and a rich musk and amber scent.

Best Scents for Dates

Best Scents for Dates
There's no doubt that scent plays a significant role in the rules of attraction. Whether it's a first date or your 100th, you want to smell your best. What you wear may depend on the type of date you're going on. But one thing is certain, finding the right scent to bring out your natural pheromones will make sure that your date will come back for more!

Believe it or not, science has studied what scents men like. According to those studies, men love sugary scents that smell sweet, but not sour. So the best fragrances you should be wearing are those rich is fruity notes. We have a few original fragrances, like Cool Citrus, or Pomegranate Mango that would be the perfect spritz before you head out on the town.

The location of your date should dictate the scent you choose. If you are going to a public place, like a sporting event, play or indoor concert you should opt for a more subtle scent. Anything with softer floral notes are usually the best options. A lavender scent or even vanilla keeps that sweet smell guys love, without overpowering a room.

If you're going on a date in an open area, like the beach or park for a picnic, you have more options to be bold. Remember if you're going to the beach, less is more since you'll be wearing suntan lotion. But a nice spritz of an apple scent is a great way to grab the attention of your date. Feel free to use more if your beach trip is a nighttime walk, rather than an all-day event.

If you are going on a romantic dinner date Curve is one of the best scents to wear in a restaurant. It won't overpower the smells of a romantic dinner, either. Curve is full of sensual florals which is perfect for a restaurant setting. Glamorous by Ralph Lauren is another great option for a date night involving food because of its rare and beautiful flowers like arum lily, tuberose and ginger.

Staying in for a romantic night? If you're having a night in with your significant other you should be as bold as you want to be. Show your man/woman who you are by being yourself. Romantic nights in are perfect to throw out all the advice and go with your favorite fragrance. If you are just getting to know someone, you'll want to let them know who you are. And how you smell is a part of your personality!

6 Tips for Soft Skin in the Summer

6 Tips for Soft Skin in the Summer
Summer is just around the corner. As the kids wrap up school we turn our attention to vacation time. And summer is obviously the most popular time to get a tan! Spending time outdoors is so necessary this time of the year. But it's the warmest months when we completely lose track of keeping our skin healthy. Moisturizers aren't just for the winter months! The summer heat and blazing sun can do a lot of harm to our skin, so use these tips to keep your skin soft and hydrated this summer:

1. Drink water. The most important thing you can do for your skin, next to suntan lotion, is to keep yourself hydrated. Many of us may want to enjoy an adult beverage (or several) during a vacation or at an outdoor concert, however staying hydrated will keep your skin soft. Lots of water, especially if you plan on being out in the sun for long periods of time.

2. Use a lighter moisturizer. You don't need to go as heavy in the summer as you do in the winter. While summer can do it's damage, it's nothing like the brutal winter months. Don't over-do your moisturizer in the summer. Gels are best to use in the summer because of the high water content in them.

3. Use the night to your advantage. Dermatologists say that night time is the best time for your skin to repair itself. Give it some help with a serum that will lock in the moisture. Elle has a good list of 10 options that will give your skin the recovery it needs during the night.

4. Opt for colder showers. The summer heat is a great time to skip your hot showers. If you've been outside all day a colder shower will refresh your body. Plus, hot water is more damaging to the skin.

5. Apply the right amount of sunscreen. We all know sunscreen protects our skin from cancer and burns that will dry out the skin. Must most of us aren't using enough of it. Experts recommend you apply two tablespoons of sunscreen to your face every two hours that you are outdoors.

6. Use gentle cleaners. In the summer we tend to overcompensate for the extra oil our body produces by scrubbing with too many cleaning products. But using a mild foaming cleanser will get rid of the excess oil without taking away too much of the skin.

At Scents Unlimited we offer dozens of all-natural ways to keep your skin soft. You can order many of our moisturizers in your favorite fragrance at a fraction of the cost! To view our all-natural lotions and to read more beauty tips click the “like” button on Facebook!

Hair Stylists Secretes

April marks National Hairstylist Appreciation Day. The day to celebrate those pros who work to make us look fab is technically April 30th but we thought it would be nice to dedicate some extra time to showing our appreciation for these talented artists. A hair stylist is someone who makes us look good, and feel good. The best hair stylist will push us to change our look once in awhile, to dare to be daring.

Believe it or not being a professional hair stylist is not an easy task. It takes a lot of schooling, training and natural talent for someone to become a hair stylist. And it's their little tricks that make us so beautiful that make all the difference. In honor of National Hairstylist Appreciation Day we wanted to highlight a few little-known hair secretes that stylists will use to make us look our best.

One of the things that a hair stylist will tell us is they are using “lightener” or “decolorizer” when we ask for the dark color to be removed from our hair. But, it's always bleach. Call it a marketing trick, but hair stylists found out years ago that people will be less paranoid about the chemical if it has a different name.

We've also heard from hair stylists that a mix of hot and cold during a blow dry will keep the style longer. Keep the brush wrapped around the ends of your hair for about 5 seconds and let cool air pass into your roots. First blow dry your hair on high temperature then set the blow dryer to medium to keep the hair in the best possible shape longer. Speaking of temperature, according to hair stylists, you should have a curler and/or blow dryer that has at least three different temperature settings.

Some secretes we know hair stylists keep, but may actually save you money when you visit them. Sometimes salons will offer discounts if you book on certain days (avoid Saturdays for best service). They may even give you a deal if you get a cut and color together. Doing both together saves time and could save you a quarter of your bill.

Make sure when you've found a good hair stylist that you treat them as well as you want to be treated. It only takes one bad experience to know how invaluable the good stylists are. Tip them well (they keep track) and make sure to keep your appointments. And sometime this month thank your hair stylist for all the work he or she does to make you feel and look good!

14 Must Items for Your Handbag

must items for your handbag
Whether you carry a purse or handbag, they can fill up quickly. If your handbag looks like it could fill a suitcase we're here to help! Here are a few must items that you should carry with you at all times:

1. Hand sanitizer. Those little travel bottles of hand sanitizer is the perfect way to keep yourself protected from getting sick.

2. Blotting papers. They're absorbent small sheets and can help you remove any excess oil or shine. They're a good at removing sweat as well!

3. Mints. Whether it's a big business meeting or a date, appearance doesn't mean much if your breath stinks. Keep some mints handy to keep your breath fresh.

4. Small perfume bottle. A small perfume bottle is a must for any woman on the go. It's a great way to freshen up if you don't have time to go home in between meetings.

5. Stain-eraser pen. These little miracles are relatively new to the market. Trust me as someone who travels and eats on the go, they will remove a coffee or food stain with ease and keep you looking your best.

6. Your lipstick. Emergency lipstick will make sure that your face's focal point is on point at all times.

7. Safety pins. Safety pins are a great go-to if a button comes off or a seam rips.

8. Tissue. You should have tissue, especially during the winter months (or allergy season) to keep the red nose away!

9. Ibuprofen or aspirin. Buy a travel bottle of ibuprofen or aspirin  for those moments when headaches come out of nowhere.

10. A mirror. It's easy to find a public bathroom or somewhere with a mirror. But why take the risk? A small travel mirror takes very little space in your handbag or purse and can help with touch-ups anytime.

11. Pads. During that time of the month, pads are key, especially if you are traveling.

12. Mace. Mace or pepper spray, unfortunately, should be considered a must. Protect yourself and give yourself piece of mind by having a way to fight back at your fingertips.

13. Lotion. For those times when your hands need a little TLC.

14. Flash drive. Have backups of your work files on a flash drive. If you have a presentation and you forget your laptop (or it doesn't work) you can pull it up on a flash drive and not miss a beat!

We offer several personal care products that are the perfect fit for your handbag or purse! Browse our original perfume and discount fragrances. And follow us on Pinterest for more beauty tips and advice!
